Re: vcard/vcal contact and calendar processing/referencing

thanks for the PST info. . .  looks marginal at best since comma is used to delimit surname name
from proper name in Exchange servers configured as such.  haven't tried but i'm assuming we'd have
to get pretty creative if we wanted to keep things usable, like munging "Smith, John; Smith, Jane;
Public, John Q." into "John Smith, Jane Smith, John Q. Public".  As the wiki suggests, a full-blow
Exchange Server probably *is* the ideal method.  I'll update when I find a better solution.

As for vcard/vcal processing, i'm thinkin just the same type of processing for mail. . .  assigning
calendar entries to the date of the event (which would require support for dates past "Today" which
i assume is a non-issue) and entering contact entries in some arbitrary format of your choosing (and
adding possibly more detail to a specific "Contributors" property page so that we can see the
additional detail for contributors with corresponding vcard entires.  Even being able to search for
all "Contributors" with vcard entries (eg "John Q. Public vcard" would result in a link to the vcard
for John Q. Public, clicking on that would show the "message" formatted in some arbitrary way of the
elves choosing.  Getting considerably "out there" even possible would be parsing street, state,
city, country for auto-lookup to a geographical lookup site such as maps.yahoo.com or dare i say
mapquest (shudder. . . dunno why i'm not partial to mapquest. . . must be their busy logo ;)

i dunno. . . i see vcard/vcal processing/indexing/presentation a huge value "next step" that would
really be valuable.  With the above method, one could do a search for an item such as "Friends
vcard" and get the appropriate group of items *if* the vcard contained a category field of "friends"
or whatnot.  possibilities are endless.  I'd have to check on the vcard spec, but perhaps a search
criteria for vcal when lookin' for calendar events such as "conference work vcal" would also be
possible.  like i said. . .  this should be discussed here more for the best ideas to surface but i
think it would be really exciting. as it would seriously ease the finding of events and contact
info.

if some method were built into Zoe to do this, one could modify the afformetioned sub-standard
methods of importing not only the emails of PST stores, but the calendar events and contacts, and
have them relate.

even just the meat of the vcal/vcard ideas above would be interesting additions i think.

others thoughts on this ?
