To follow an old tradition started by NeXTMail [1], the Mail.app internals where never documented even though people have hacked mail bundles since the dawn of time [2] :) That said, the Obj-C runtime is pretty much self-documenting, so it's just a question of generating the right headers to get your foot in the door. Classdump [3] and MagicHat [4] can help with that. This looks like a great first Cocoa project :) Cheers, R.
