Spam Removal

Hi, It appears that a lot of the people on the list use server-side spam filtering. I just let my mail client handle it, but leave ZOE running all the time (so I can search it whenever). This has the unfortunate side-effect of ZOE retrieving and processing my spam before my MUA does. Are there any solutions to this other than a) leaving my mail client open all the time, or x) manually discarding junk messages?
