I'm running into a lot of problems with legacy email messages that are not well formed and cause problems with JavaMail.  I am reluctant to edit the files manually and 'fix' them because I do want Zoe to be a true archive of my emails in their original state... of course forwarding messages to Zoe from the original client has already modified some of them by adding a few extra lines to the headers.

The solution that I've been thinking about is to modify Zoe to apply an optional patch file for each message that is malformed so that JavaMail only see's the well formed, patched, version of the message, but the original is left untouched.  The 'source' option in Zoe would also have to be modified to show the original rather than the patched version.

This mechanism might also be helpful in creating the mail annotation/keywords feature that some have asked for in the past.

Naturally, I have no free time to do something like this, but if I ever do, I'll be sure to volunteer to add this feature.
