Correct. Anything from SMTP servers to mailing lists manipulate your 
messages _before_ delivery. But once it reaches your mailbox, it never 
change again. In the scenario at hand, you are asking to go back 
through the email journey and modify some of its attributes. Therefore 
the headache :)

Yes. It will download all the messages. But this should not create any 
duplicates, as the emails are double checked for uniqueness using their 
Message-Id.
