So your provider needs to give access to your emails using one of those protocols. If they don't, you are out of luck. That said, there are some third party tools which will translate esoteric formats into more understandable ones. Take a look at MrPostman for an example: http://mrpostman.sourceforge.net/ In your case, you could let MrPostman connect to your Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts and then connect ZOË to MrPostman built-in POP3 server.
