wow thats incredibly sad! thank you for letting me (and anyone else) know what happened. i know it sounds a bit odd but i felt like a little bit of my family died off when it disappeared like that, it was really unnerving. i sent messages through the 4D contact on the main site, and of course no one got back to me. 'much love'. it may be coming back you say? in the meantime, is this the best place right now for ex-forum groupies? thanks Jo, so happy youre still around! :) :) --- On Sun, 7/19/09, sweetfoolthemouth <[email protected]> wrote: From: sweetfoolthemouth <[email protected]> Subject: [4ad-l] Re: Tune-Yards To: [email protected] Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 6:24 AM --- In 4ad-l@yahoogroups. com, "amaccreary" <amaccreary@ ...> wrote: > > sorry to be so late in the game in asking this, but what happened to the old forum? why did they get rid of it and why did they do it without telling anyone? it was abrupt and just plain rude! :) the old forum was a complete mixup, unfortunately. It disappeared overnight, as Matador were using our bway account, but didn't realise we were also using it. When they switched their forums over to a different provider, the account was closed - but again, nobody flagged up that the Beggars forums were there. So unfortunately, one day it just disappeared without any prior warning. Doubly unfortunately, it wasn't a case of just flicking a switch and it coming back on (something I can't discuss, I'm afraid), so everything, while backed up, was lost forever. A great shame, for some of the content on there, too. So nobody had any idea, until it had gone. In some ways, it was probably a blessing in disguise! At least if/as/when new forums start, there'll be other people than me on them, work-wise, which is a very good thing (there's quite a few people who are regular forum-goers who work for us nowadays) - as the forums before really just ended up being me and Steve backcat, which must have been extremely boring for anyone wanting a labels' input!
