Not sure if anyone is aware (probably), anyway, got my hands on a new Japan sampler yesterday with tracks from different eras of 4AD, chosen by label people or current bandmembers. There's also a sticker with the 4AD logo on the orangey background.
It's called 'What did you want to see what did you want to be when you grew up?' (lyrics taken from Atlas Sound's 'Walkabout'). Here's the links over at Hostess:

Apparently to get a copy you have to order two albums from Japan, but I know little else about it.

in other news, 4AD is so far up to 51 with release numbers this year, been asking what some bands are up to, and so far have only found out St. Vincent is working on new songs, though we wont expect to see anything for a while - which pleases me a lot as she's great.

There's more things happening towards the end of the year, which should be announced nearer the time. We're not talking celebrations like the 25th here, though. 2011 could be a busy year... and you thought this year was. Ha.

Backcat-wise if anyone was wondering what was happening with the Lush reissues sometimes talked about, they're still happening, but it's going verrrrry slowly. They will happen, if only to make sure Steve Rippon's excellent sleevenotes get out there. There's also been some progress on the often talked about Throwing Muses Anthology, an announcement may happen sometime soon-ish with more information. This Mortal Coil is all going ahead fine, Steve has been updating the archive blog with information - archive.beggars.com - look out for some backcat 4AD vinyl happening too.

Oh, and Vinyl 180 asked me if I can think of any good vinyl reissues for them to do from 4AD - everything I can think of will probably sell all of 2 copies, so thought I'd put it out there and see what you all think - suggest away!

Completely off topic, only spotted this the other day - it's probably been up for months, but it's a friend of Lush's early memories and photos, and lyrics with the band - http://www.lightfromadeadstar.org/PNL_Years/Index.htm

Pale Saints wise, although Graeme is probably right up to his neck in it right now due to becoming a dad again, I'm going to do an email interview with him, so if anyone has any questions they want asking, then let me know. I'll eventually get around to doing it and posting it up at palesaints.co.uk

Think that's everything...
