The stench of war is all over the world despite great uprisings against it. We all know this is a battle of two pompous dictators and their stooges. And caught in the crossfire are lives, livelihoods and millions of hopes and dreams. In this war, like any war, there will be no winners or losers, only victims. At the very core of it, this is not about political consciousness. Or about morality. It is about that fundamental humanitarian emotion we sometimes sweep under the carpet in our blind compulsion for personal aggrandizement: this is about love. And that other thing all of us make a song and dance about but develop cold feet when it comes to practising -- peace. This time, let's give peace a chance. Lay down your arms on Saturday, April 5, 2003. And put them together as Thermal And a Quarter performs live at Trans-Indus, a pathbreaking eco-village a few kilometres down Kanakapura Road, on the outskirts of Bangalore. The performance begins at 9 PM. PEACE ROCKS, a Thermal And A Quarter initiative, is a completely non- sponsored appeal to make music, not war. Donor passes are available at Rs 100 at Pecos (Rest House Road) and Habitat (Church Street). Pecos will serve food and beverages at the venue. This is as much your show as ours. If you have a song for peace, join us in singing it. Bring your guitars, congos, harmonicas, banjos, mandolins... we'll be glad to offer the stage to you.
