And may I encourage every homeowner to go read your policy right now! A few years back I did a refinance and let the mortgage company pick the insurance company. After the closing I was reading the policy and it only covered paying off the loan directly to the bank (regardless of the value of the property loss I had). In the event of a fire, I would have been homeless and my other personal possessions would have not been replaced. And to add insult to injury, I was paying 3 times the cost for that policy compared to the good one I replaced it with protecting ME. It was a racket (fraud I'd say) between the bank (countrywide and the insurance company).
