The whole "damaging to the spirit talk" that he has become prone to using irritates me. What kills me is how I first came across his work, he seemed to portray himself as exactly NOT one of THOSE Evangelicals. He may not go as far as Ted Behr, but he is more than willing to condemn a movie on moral grounds and spit on the integrity of anyone who might like it.

I agree. But to question people who like the film and say you reconsider your trust of their recommendations? But then again? I liked Stardust. I am probably just a deviant. Funny Games is fresh in my mind because a horror blogger I read had reader submit a list of their top twenty films. She compiled a list based on number of votes received (the response was so heavy that the list had over 800 films...mine are in the top two hundred-and so far, only one has shown up). Funny Games was in the latest list, and she linked to her "positive" review and the comments were... contentious. But what is interesting is that all the people who were positive about the film? none of them "liked" it. It is not a fun viewing experience. The people who hated it? They felt it was boring. But then the blogger noted at the time she was going through the random "Why do I like horror" crisis, which the funny games definitly pummels the viewer with.
