I don’t think he implied that had to be done through payroll tax deductions and
government spending.

Well, socialism is as socialism does.  My only point is that we can't say
"You have to be a socialist because Jesus said so!", because the simple
fact of the matter is that he *didn't* say so.

I trust I don't have to add that Jesus never said we have to be
capitalists, either.
