So you'd be opposed to the one- or two- or three-year waiting lists that 
people sometimes find themselves on here?  In your country, at least, 
patients with the means to do so could "jump the queue" and pay for 
someone to give those services pronto -- but in my country, where even 
so-called "conservative" politicians scorn the "two-tier" option, it's 
somehow seen as a travesty of justice if someone gets less-crappy 
treatment than anyone else.

Note: this applies to certain medical procedures specifically.  When my 
son needed to be diagnosed with autism (the sooner the better, so that we 
would have the paperwork necessary to qualify for government-funded autism 
treatment), we were able to "jump the queue" and take him to a private 
psychologist, instead of waiting a full year for the government-provided 
psychologist.  But there are all sorts of other services where, as I 
understand it, the "private" option simply wouldn't exist.
