No one ever reasonably believed it would be over 100 seats. It also ignores that a few months ago when the expectation for some states elections were "it's bad to be an incumbent!" and then all but one incumbent won. I don't doubt the Republicans will get the majority next week...but that this will be some sort of incredible "thumping" seems far more up in the air.
