Do you have a quote where he predicts that republicans will pick up 90+ seats?  
I haven't seen it yet.  Saying seats are in play is very different from 
predicting the outcome.

How many seats are in play for the Republican Party to pick up in November? 

John Boehner says at least 100. You read that right: 100 seats — or 23 percent 
of the entire House — could be gobbled up by Republicans on Boehner’s dream 
election day scenario. 


The House minority leader, speaking on National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” 
on Friday, said that the “playing field” for the 2010 elections is wider than 
“anything we’ve seen around here during my 20 years." 


“At least 100 seats,” Boehner told NPR’s Steve Inskeep, when asked how many 
House districts are up for grabs. “You think there are 100 seats in the United 
States that could change hands?” Inskeep asked. 


“I do,” Boehner responded. 

“Well typically, you are correct there would be some limited number of seats in 
play,” Boehner said. “Let me remind you that Scott Brown won the Ted Kennedy 
Senate seat in Massachusetts. If Scott Brown can win in Massachusetts, there 
isn’t a seat in America that Republicans can’t win.” 


Republicans need 40 seats to win the majority — a number some pundits believe to 
be out of reach. If they win 100 seats, they would be deep in the majority and 
in commanding control of the lower chamber. 


The GOP is setting the bar for November’s elections unusually high. National 
Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions of Texas has said that 
if the GOP doesn’t retake the house he has not fulfilled his “mission 
statement.” 


“I’m not the least bit interested in coming in second place,” he told reporters 
earlier this month.

I think "in play" means the competitive seats I mentioned.  Do you have a quote 
of Boehner predicting that republicans will pick up 100 seats or even 90+ seats?

There are 90+ competitive seats that are held by democrats.  I follow politics 
relatively closely and I've never heard /seen any reasonable person predict a 
100 seat gain for republicans .
