I think I know what you mean.  There's a deleted scene from the original 
Tron in which Tron and Yori engage in a bit of, um, foreplay, for lack of 
a better word, and it plays on the idea that they can "touch" each other 
through the circuits in their suits.

Oh, crap, the scene ends with Yori transforming her costume and getting 
hair.  Well *there* goes my argument.  Then again, they did *delete* the 
scene (albeit very late in the process, since the effects are pretty close 
to completion there).  Hmmm.  I wonder if the helmets were meant to 
signify the oppressiveness and lifelessness of living in a totalitarian, 
Soviet-style system, whereas the hair symbolized American freedom.
