Aye. Gene's death was the first (only?) "celebrity" death that seriously affected me. I didn't even know what to do with myself for several days. When I was younger, I would hear about some old movie star dying, and wondered what it was like for my grandparents. At the time it seemed inconceivable to me that, say, Michael J. Fox, or Sylvester Stallone, or Molly Ringwald would someday be very old and pass away. These days, it doesn't seem inconceivable at all, just inevitable. I can't help thinking that I'll never feel about another celebrity death the way I felt about Gene's. Then again, perhaps it had more to do with the fact that I'd met the man, or unwittingly attended Adam Again's final concert, or that I'd spent countless hours in my bedroom, alone with his music and my adolescent angst. At any rate, almost daily do I miss the music he was never able to give us. -- -pcg [email protected] -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot
