Yeah, it seems they have. The Bilbo thing was how I first heard about
this series as well. I read somewhere that Freeman (my personal
favorite for Bilbo) had to pass on "The Hobbit" because of his
commitment to "Sherlock," and I thought to myself, "That series had
better be *damn* good."
That said, I'm not much for whodunit stories. I saw the big-screen
version last year (for the spectacle), and thought it was passable,
fluffy fun. Not sure I could get into a straight-faced, ongoing
series.
I'll give it a chance, though, on account of Johne's recommendation.
He's the one who introduced me to "Firefly," which means down I have
to watch every damn thing he recommends, just in case. ("Slings and
Arrows" is in my Netflix queue, btw...)
