She apparently still defends the role, I think she says she fled the reception,
not the scene.

Also, it was an interesting experience watching that film. Knowing
that she apparently burst into tears and fled the screening at Cannes
(or wherever it premiered), watching it almost felt like some kind of
violation. On the other hand, she agreed to the script and willingly,
uh, performed, so watching it seemed fair.
