Well, Clinton never had a solid majority -- both of his victories were due 
to a split vote between Bush or Dole on the one hand and Perot on the 
other hand -- so *that's* not too surprising.

Reagan, though, is certainly interesting.  Especially given that he won 
re-election with the largest majority *ever* just two years later.

(And who did he defeat in '84?  The guy who ran for the vice-presidency in 
'80.  That's not a good exactly precedent for Palin, is it? :) )
