One thing that bothered me about the ballot yesterday is the option to
vote a straight party ticket.  This really hinders the ability of
qualified independents and 3rd parties to pickup lesser offices. 
Significant numbers of people blindly choose to vote all republicans by
checking one box and that completely skews what might have been a
successful bid by a popular justice of the peace or judge or whatever by
electing whatever bozo republican or democrat they put up.
It is just another way the voting system is stacked against 3rd parties.
