And I was beginning to have some idea of film as an art form, capable of 
at least enjoyable escapism, and even more!

But seriously, I just remember thinking it was an amazingly bad movie.  
But now I'm getting curious as to how I'd feel
seeing it again, so maybe I'll try to track it down, and force my 15- 
and 18- year old boys to sit through it.  They really
ravaged 2001 not too long ago ("3 hours of my life I'll never get 
back......" although they did enjoy the bit in the middle with
Hal and the voyage to Jupiter).  Me, I kind of enjoyed seeing it again, 
although I'll have to concede it does move slowly.
Not that that's a bad thing.
