I think it is time to do away with political parties.  They are the  
cause of so much of what is wrong with our political system...the  
catalyst to the money and financing corruption so prevalent in  
government.  I think George Washington was correct:

sufficient to make it the interest of a wise people to discourage and  
restrain it.  It serves always to distract the public counsels and  
enfeeble the public administration.  It agitates the community with  
ill founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one

opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a  
facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of  
party passions.”
