I don’t think this reflects poorly on Stewart at all. I get a little tired of right wing bashing of him. I know he has a history of not being so concilliatory, (I’ve seen the videos posted on right leaning blogs), but I get the feeling he has had a sincere change of heart. He hasn’t converted to conservatism, or even close but I think he is sincere about ratcheting down the rhetoric. Hey, anybody that raises the ire of Keith Olberman has got to be doing something right.

But Geitner and the govt? This reflects horribly on them. It makes them look weak, pathetic and clueless. I really, really, don’t want the treasury secretary of the country consulting with comedians, be they Jeff Foxworthy or Bill Burr, on anything remotely connected to govt. policy.

In which Kyle demonstrates that good comedy is harder than it looks.

  A few questions:

  1) How can Stewart claim not to be a real journalist (and therefore not to be held accountable to any standards whatsoever) if top political figures treat him as someone as important as the Washington bureau chief of the biggest newspapers?

  2) Didn't either Stewart or Geithner, each of them supposedly a public servant, have any obligation to make public the fact that he was a spinner or spinnee of the other?

  3) Did Stewart address Geithner as "money dude," "Mr. T" or "Treasury Tim?"

  4) Why is the administration taking Jon Stewart so seriously that it has to dispatch a top cabinet member to assuage him?

  5) What other entertainers is the administration wasting the nation's time sucking up to?
