I shudder when Olbermann shows up on Sunday Night Football.

The earth shudders. I agree with you. I guess NBC has a policy but it makes you wonder if they were looking for an excuse.

Olbermann is on an op-ed show based around him. He's under no more obligation to be unbiased than Sean Hannity. Joe Scarborough (a conservative MSNBC host) has made donations without being suspended. Sean Hannity has as well-the same amount-this year.
Fox gives money to candidates.

News Corp. contributed $2 million during the 2010 election cycle to
organizations -- including $1 million to the Republican Governors
Association -- opposed to Democratic candidates.

Earlier this year Mr. Hannity made a $2,400 contribution to a Republican
congressional candidate, John Gomez, a long-time friend of his, and a
$5,000 contribution to the political action committee of Representative
Michele Bachmann, Republican of Minnesota.
Whether talking heads make donations or not this should not be an issue.
