I don't disagree with you that this makes a nice "end of story", a sense of closure. I like Toy Story 3 and think overall, the three films make a nice trilogy. But I see Peter's point about the lessons of 2 seeming to be a bit negated. 2 juxtaposed the toy that has value because it is beloved by it's owner with the collectable that is revered for it's value by it's owner. It's a neatly done story, and I really recommend it. It is, in my opinion, the best of the three films. Toy Story two is easily one of Pixar's best moments.
