Strongly agreed.

MD just passed a no-hand-held-phones for the driver law.  I never
heard any debate about it until it had passed.  I've never seen any
stats brought forward to show how effective it's been in the states
which have had it on the books already.  And I've largely ignored it
(as I suspect most other drivers are also doing), because I hate
bluetooth earpieces and I don't have a bluetooth stereo adapter + car
dock in the budget just yet.

I doubt the law from the article could pass nationwide.  It's just too
absurd and extreme.  My guess is that they're floating this version of
the law now so they can come in and "compromise" later with the far
more "moderate" version recently passed in MD.
