Thinking more...one area that might end up being a constitutional issue is the random nature of the searches. An analyst on the radio this AM suggested that is most likely a violation of the 4th Amendment, I think because the searches are intentionally random, so there is no probable cause to make a reasonable search and no warrant signed by a judge. Legal precedent (SCOTUS) seems to agree, and the fact these are being done by a federal agency puts the matter directly into the light of the constitution. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of pcg Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 11:46 AM To: DADL (off topic) Subject: Re: [DADL-OT] Man up! You know, I understand the irritation over all this, I really do, but I think it's important to measure our sense of indignance. Nobody's barging into our homes and demanding stripteases from our children. Nobody's forcing any of us to fly anywhere. We have no inherent rights regarding our ability to board an airplane, uh, unmolested (ahem). My girlfriend's 83 year old grandparents drove roundtrip from Florida to Nebraska three times this year because they refuse to put up with the hassle at airports. It's enough of an issue for them that they'd rather spend 22 hours in the car, and so they do. My point is, it's one more indignity to endure at the airport, but it's hardly the end of western culture. Anyway, there's always this: http://www.rockyflatsgear.com/ -- -pcg [email protected] -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot
