Let's say Lucas "learned" from the experience.  Lucas was much more 
hands-on with the next film.  So, he was able to keep his hands off when 
Kershner was actually directing, but the fact that Kershner went over 
budget etc. (which isn't necessarily Kershner's fault, but still...) was 
one of the things that pushed Lucas to become so much more controlling.
