Because it is an obviously trumped up charge designed to intimidate and threaten
him. The cooperation of the gov'ts of Sweden and Britain and Interpol to charge
him for having consensual sex without a condom with a woman with ties to the CIA
is an obvious power play. Combine that with the corporate cooperation with the
gov't to prevent this guy from even using a debit card and accessing his money
reveals a government with no limits to its power even across borders.
Time to reread Archipelago Gulag. The silence of the people to the secrecy and
abuses of power by their government is frightening.
