>ha. But the point is that even the most diehard feminists in the world recognizes this for what it is, a farce.
No, it is not a farce. Lying to women to get consent? That's a type of rape. The woman would not have consented had he been truthful. So is having sex with a woman who is asleep. The only farce in this is wikileaks supporters insistence that he is just some poor victim. Wolf's column is proof that she did no research. OF COURSE she thinks it is a farce.
Jill Filipovic put it well in response to Wolf:
In fact, it is totally possible to support the WikiLeaks project and to think that the international response to Assange and the project is thoroughly fucked up and to think we should withhold judgment on whether or not Assange is actually a rapist and also to think that we should withhold judgment on whether the women are lying, and to not discredit the women involved, and to not create a hostile climate for rape survivors, and to not play into every tired old stereotype about women and rape.
Seriously, we can chew gum and walk at the same time.
