As a married man, you lean on your wife for certain things even if she's not
physically in your presence.

I know we want to have this unified presence that the President is a rock,
unshakable, a firm hand at the tiller, and all that. But it's a facade. The
Presidency is a system, not just one man.

There are plenty of things we can be critical of, many questions we can
field. However, in the grand scheme of things, letting Clinton (Bill) field
some questions while he gathers his wits is hardly the worst thing he's
done. I know his political enemies have the impulse to jump at any
opportunity to bring him down. I just don't think that being of a different
political philosophy means I need to bow to that impulse.
