I don’t totally disagree really.  I am a huge free speech advocate, but that
said, I do draw the line at actual threats.  I guess I will have to parse the
court docs and see.

What the heck is a sense of menace?  Does it come with a grrrrrr?  Or is it
typed in all caps?  
 
If he took actions that made a reasonable person fear an imminent assault then
he should most definitely should be held to account, but barring that I don't
see what he could have *said* that deserved criminal charges.
 
He could be sued civilly for intentional infliction of emotional distress and I
don't have a problem with that.  But I don't like throwing the enormous weight
and power of the federal govt. behind offensive speech.

I do.  I heard he specifically threatened 47 people.  If any of the threats had

I'll be honest that I haven't read it but I got the sense that these were only
written or verbal threats.  Being the free speech absolutist that I am that
shouldn't be enough to get arrested.  Speech without action shouldn't be a
crime.  Hmmm I suppose in some circumstances like bribery or blackmail implied
action is enough.  But I think you know what I mean.

Yes. If (and that's a big if) there is ever a need for uncivil discourse and
violence...it should be directed there, IMO. I mean, how many times will you
