Methinks you are way too stuck on the question of whether or not your 
government can formally endorse a religion.  Well, of course it can't, at 
least not right now.  (The Constitution *can*, in theory, be amended.)

The point here is not that Palin is helping the Mormons build a state 
church, per se.  The point here is that she, and they, are stirring up 
sentiments that lead to *other* sorts of government actions.
