What it demonstrates is that people use the term when (a) they are blowing 
things wildly out of proportion and/or when (b) they are drawing an 
analogy between medieval Jews and the (seemingly or actually) oppressed 
minorities of today.  Only one of these things applies to Palin's 
self-defensive use of the term, and it isn't (b).
