Wow.  Among most film buffs he's regarded as something of a troll.  At 
least one of my colleagues refuses to discuss him, even to mock him, 
because of the way he once ended a film review by suggesting that the 
director's mother should have had an abortion.

Ebert actually came to his defense, at first.  It was only after Ebert's 
readers pointed out to him that White consistently loves films that 
everybody hates and hates films that everybody loves that Ebert himself 
concluded that White must be a troll.
