You mean you *could* see around those lens flares *before*?  :)

The thing that's ruined a lot of current movies for *me* is the switch to 
digital colour grading and the obsessive use of the teal-and-orange colour 
palette.  Highbrow, lowbrow, middlebrow, whatever: it's in everything 
these days, from The King's Speech to Season of the Witch.

And apparently some older films are getting teal-and-orange'd when they 
get remastered for Blu-Ray, sigh ...
