Tom Hanks won for Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994), and at the 
time it was reported that Spencer Tracy had done that too ... pausing to 
look it up ... with Captains Courageous (1937) and Boys Town (1938).

A bit of snooping reveals that this (i.e. back-to-back wins) has also 
happened in the Best Actress category:

  -- Luise Rainer for The Great Ziegfeld (1936) and The Good Earth (1937)
  -- Katharine Hepburn for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) and The Lion 
in Winter (1968), the latter of which was a *tie* with Barbra Streisand, 
who won for Funny Girl

And it has also happened in the Best Supporting Actor category:

  -- Jason Robards for All the President's Men (1976) and Julia (1977)

Apparently it has never happened in the Best Supporting Actress category.
