Re: Why the Blade Runner Voice Over Sucks

Having now watched the movie without the voiceover I have come to appreciate 
it without the voice over.  It does make the film a much more visual 
experience, as there is nothing to take your mind off the scenery - the 
industrial landscape in particular.

That being said I'm not throwing out the voice over version entirely.  I 
still maintain that Harrison's voice was perfect, (whether he intended it or 
not), for the tone and feel of the movie.  The irony of the main character 
sounding so disinterested and deadpan brought home the bleak existence of 
life in the shadow of Tyrell Corp, where all you do is go through the 
motions.

Have you checked out the extras on the deluxe edition? It's
fascinating to listen to Ford's voiceover recording sessions. He's
reading each line and then saying stuff like, "Are you serious? This
is crazy. This is.... well, whatever..."
