Re: not of the world

I was there from Shotgun Angel on.  I saw them play when they still sported
cowboy hats, flannel shirts and beards.  I got to watch the evolution from
country to rock and all the drama it caused, which was minimal compared to
the outrage when they went new wave and beyond.

 

I also got to watch them get the powercut on them at a church in Sacramento
when they weren't country enough.

 

Ironically, the elders cut them off during Lady Goodbye, which is a fairly
mild rock ballad.

My first exposure was also Horrendous Disc, but my initial reaction was not
favorable. I had borrowed it from our youth group's lending library and as a
7th grader just getting into Christian music, I didn't feel it was
"Christian" enough. I preferred my Petra and my Resurrection Band. Then I
remember hearing them on the local Christian music show on WTUE in Dayton,
"Change," though I was a little annoyed because I thought the show was going
to feature Daniel Band, but it ended up being Daniel Amos. Was mostly tracks
from Alarma. Doppelganger eventually won me over and I've been listening
ever since.

My first exposure was Soon on the radio. But had no idea at the time. Then
while in the CBS I saw this cassette of some naked guy doing sit-ups.
Listened to the first track, bought it (as it was on special) and loved it.
Totally hooked by Neverland Ballroom

The next week saw Darn Floor also on special. Interestingly my copies have
printed on the cassettes "Printed in New Zealand" How's that for rare?
