Ah, but there has often been a sexual undercurrent in the Harry Potter 
films.  The ex-friend I sometimes talk about once got a lot of mileage out 
of the Freudian implications of Chamber of Secrets, the 2nd film (i.e. the 
one that takes place when the main characters are 12), in which our heroes 
have to enter a secret hole in the floor of the *girls' bathroom* to 
confront *an evil snake*, etc., etc., etc.  And then there was Goblet of 
Fire, the 4th film (i.e. the one that takes place when the main characters 
are 14), in which a female ghost teases a naked Harry Potter while he 
immerses himself in a bath to open some sort of magical "egg".

And those examples are just in the first four films.  The poster we're 
talking about was for the *5th* film, i.e. the one in which Harry Potter 
has his first kiss.  Romantic-sexual awakening was one of the running 
themes there.  And of course, now, Deathly Hallows Part 1, the 7th film 
(i.e. the one that takes place when the main characters are 17) has a 
sequence where Ron has a vision of Harry and Hermione kissing each other, 
both of them topless.  It's only a vision, but the actors are real.

So, "essentially children's stories" isn't *quite* accurate.
