An interesting infographic came up in my RSS feed today that is this
discussion to a T.

Land line:
I had a land line in my apartment, since the dry-loop DSL fee was half-way
to the cost of a land line, and because my cell phone is provided by work, I
like to have my own number for credit cards, etc..
Now that I use cable internet I've switched to voip for my land line, and
the service is so cheap I don't see that changing, even if I go back to DSL.

Cable TV:
My parents had it, but I didn't bother with it in my apartment. I do end up
downloading or watching online about 7 or 8 shows a week, some are mediocre
(V) so I could probably cut back. I had cable TV for free from Oct 2009
through Oct 2010 through some random offer, free cable and no obligation.
Due to my ignorance of their 30 day cancellation policy I did end up paying
for a month of cable at the end. I found my viewing habits were already
established, and since I didn't have a PVR I ended up downloading about half
my shows anyway.
I did enjoy having the winter Olympics and the World Cup in HD.

The only reason I haven't got netflix for streaming yet is I have a stack of
discs that I bought from the local indie video rental place that is closing
this month that are waiting to be watched, so I don't feel like paying for a
service I might under use.
