at the North American box office for the February 25-27 weekend, according
to studio estimates issued Sunday. Final data will be issued Monday.

FWIW, Drive Angry has easily the lowest opening weekend of any Nicolas
Cage movie that opened in over 2000 theatres. And if you count anything
with over 1000 theatres as a "wide" release, then even then, the only
"wide" releases of his prolific career that have opened smaller are The
Weather Man (2005, $4.2 million in 1510 theatres), Trapped in Paradise
(1994, $2.7 million in 1286 theatres) and Amos & Andrew (1993, $3.6
million in 1233 theatres). (There is also Leaving Las Vegas, which opened
in limited release and then went "wide" 3.5 months later, earning $3.3
million in 1310 theatres in its first "wide" weekend. But by that point,
it had already earned about $12 million in limited release.)
