I am on the fence about private sector unions. I have been forced into two, and while I hated it I did enjoy the benefits.

The first was ok, but second one ridiculous in demands and arrogance.

And my 1st wife was a teamster, and I will always lovingly recall how she got her tires slashed for having the audacity to be on bedrest with a high risk pregnancy during a strike, and was unable to make her assigned picket.

All the while the president of the local was making 100K plus (in 1986).

Or

Taxpayer and legislator sit down at table and order cookies. Public sector union worker brings plate of dog crap to table tells both taxpayer and legislator that it is all they are getting and demands a pay raise, sweet benefit package and defined benefit pension plan.

I'm with you 99% on private sector unions, but its a different story with public sector unions. There is no corporation, only the taxpayer, and last I looked we weren't getting anything close to 11 cookies but still being asked to pay for a baker's dozen.

Members of public sector unions see their pensions and benefits the way the Mafia views its "partnership" with a restaurant, as described in the movie "Goodfellas": "Business bad? F--k you, pay me. Oh, you had a fire? F--k you, pay me. Place got hit by lightning, huh? F--k you, pay me."

Or...

By now you've heard the cookie joke. You know: a CEO, a tea party member, and a union worker are all sitting at a table when a plate with a dozen cookies arrives. Before anyone else can make a move, the CEO reaches out to rake in eleven of the cookies. When the other two look at him in surprise, the CEO locks eyes with the tea party member. "You better watch him," the executive says with a nod toward the union worker. “He wants a piece of your cookie.”
