Well, I just signed an employment contract today. Will be moving the family
to Wash DC. We were *this* close to going to L.A., had a sweet deal there,
they flew me out for interviews last week (hey John
Wayne!), but in the end the cost of living was too much to overcome.
Oh, it is bad in DC too, but manageable. I had an offer in the DallasFW
area, but the incomes here just don't compare, even with the lower cost of
housing.

Turns out to be an equivalent move salarywise...woohoo. I was certain I'd
have to take a big cut. On the downside, I am working for the government
(as a contractor). C0ast Guard to be specific, with about a 5 year gig. At
least they can't outsource.

But I'm employed, and in this climate, I'm happy.
Thanks for all your support and referrals. They really did help, if for
nothing else to keep me focused. It was fun applying and doing phone
interviews in Seattle, Atlanta and yes even Austrailia!

regards,
-Lance
