Well, as I explained in one of my follow-up e-mails, the false dichotomy here is the assumption that "doing something" necessarily entails government action, and the more of it the better, which is what people usually mean by "giving support". If the reason for dissing private support is that it won't "solve the problem", then public support should be similarly dissed for not being able to "solve the problem". > The war on drugs?
