Well, I think it's his ego. He wants the Republican nomination, and if he does not get it? Screw em, he will run against them. The problem is? I think his political popularity is a lot slimmer than he thinks it is-and yeah, he will be a drag on the Republican candidate.
He is pretty much doing a "pick me or else" strong arm move-no doubt that he has jumped to the top spot in Repblican polls.
