I remembered him from Hitman, where he transcended a frankly silly story
(and I'm a fan of the games the film was based on). He was also a competing
guitarist in Rock Star, but was a wallflower there compared to Mark
Wahlberg.

He's a guy who manages to transcend his films.  Seriously, he often stands
out as really good-even in material that doesn't seem all that impressive.
I thought he was a standout as far back as Scream 2.
