I haven't noticed that in my riding this election, but have seen it from other parties in past elections. Paul Martin's Liberals lost with a bunch of signs advertising "Team Martin" across the country, and provincially Mike Harris' PC party had Harris on almost every sign -- of course he even had his face put on the construction signs for government infrastructure projects. Back to the NDP, apparently at the local all-candidates debate someone asked "what's one way you disagree with your party?" and the NDP candidate was the only one who totally agrees with everything his party stands for -- probably didn't win him any support.
