Good news: - medical insurance has approved some surgery I need doing, although only 80% of the amount. Yes I could use NZ's free national health care system that I pay taxes for, but that would be on a waiting list and as it's not urgent it could be a wait of years. As work pays for medical insurance for me I decided to go private, so it's a matter of three and a half weeks from the consultant to the cut-up. Bad news: Of course for some reason I thought I was covered 100% so there's $1500 to $2500 to pay off.
